Stranraer V Brechin at Stair Park - Match Preview

Blues wait on Stirling clearance

Stranraer could hand a debut to former St Mirren and East Stirlingshire midfielder Andy Stirling when they play host to Brechin.

The Blues are waiting on international clearance before Stirling can make his bow, while striker Jamie Longworth is unavailable due to personal reasons.

Otherwise manager Stephen Aitken has a fully-fit squad to choose from as they look to build on last weekend's win over Dumbarton.

Aitken said: "We need to play as well as we did last week to win this one. Brechin have a good squad and they will be challenging for promotion however if we can attack them like we attacked Dumbarton we are in with a good chance."

Brechin boss Ray McKinnon faces a defensive crisis ahead of the trip.

Centre-back Gerry McLauchlan is suspended while skipper Ewan Moyes continues his recovery following a recent car accident.

Jonny Brown, Greg Cameron and Ryan Donnelly are also doubtful leaving McKinnon unable to pick a side until Saturday lunchtime.

McKinnon said: "Stranraer had a terrific result against Dumbarton last weekend and will be full of confidence for this one.

"We are a bit short of numbers so we will need a real backs to the wall effort from the guys that play."
