Holmes double downs Stranraer

Graeme Holmes bagged a brace as second-placed Alloa thumped struggling Stranraer 4-1.

The hosts took the lead just after the half-hour mark when Ryan McCord produced a fine strike from the edge of the penalty area.

The visitors drew level after 59 minutes as Grant Gallagher struck an equally impressive effort from range to beat goalkeeper Scott Bain.

But the Wasps regained the lead a minute later when Mitchel Megginson rose highest to head home Darren Young's cross.

Megginson was the architect in the 67th minute when he played in Holmes, who drilled in a fine finish from 18 yards.

The impressive Holmes add further gloss six minutes later with a neat finish inside the area after substitute Kevin Cawley pulled the ball back.
