Stranraer narrowed the gap at the top of division two with a well-deserved victory over Forfar at Station Park.

The home side now face a tough battle against relegation following a string of poor performances.

A lack-lustre first half only came to life in the 40th minute when the visitors finally broke the deadlock .A perfect cross from the right by Graham Guy was met by Allan Jenkins, and he powered home a header from eight yards to give Stranraer the lead.
Two mintues later the visitors doubled their advantage. This time a cross from the left was met by Murray Henderson, and a deft flick of his head steered the ball past the Forfar keeper.
The Blues could also have had a penalty as Wright was about to shoot his legs seemed to be chopped from below him by a challenge from behind but nothing given.

Forfar upped their work-rate after the break and were rewarded in the 57th minute. A low free-kick by Barry Sellars went through the defensive wall and the ball squirmed under the Stranraer keeper.

Forfar should have salvaged a point when Sellars found himself unmarked of front of goal, but he scuffed his shot against the post and the chance was wasted. A Tosh header also scraped a post but they could not salvage a point.
