Montrose too good for 10-man Stranraer

Stuart McColm and Michael Moore both scored twice as Stranraer thumped bottom side Montrose 6-0 at Links Park.

The home side were awarded a penalty after just six minutes when Stranraer goalkeeper David Mitchell fouled Martin Boyle inside the area.

However, John Crawford wasted the opportunity as he sent the penalty kick wide of the goal.

McColm opened the scoring after 37 minutes with a left-foot strike into the bottom corner from just inside the area.

Four minutes later McColm had his second when he again fired in from close range.

Keith Knox's side ended the game as a contest almost immediately after the restart as they added a third through midfielder Christopher Aitken who bundled home from six yards.

Montrose's cause was damaged further when defender Jonathan Smart was shown a straight red card for a foul on Daniel Mitchell just before the hour mark.

Substitute Michael Moore then slotted home from Craig Malcolm's left-wing cross to make if four before Moore returned the favour as he set up Malcolm for Stranraer's fifth in the 72nd minute.

Seven minutes later Moore completed the rout with his second of the game, the striker converting Nathan Shepherd's cross to wrap up an impressive victory.
