The home side could not take advantage though and Forfar doubled their lead after 35 minutes when Omar Kader provided a cool finish to Martyn Fotheringham's pass
Fotheringham then put Forfar three-up from the penalty spot on the hour mark before Gavin Swankie added a fourth for the Loons seven minutes later, smashing home past Stranraer's David Mitchell from Hilson's pass
The win takes the Loons into fifth in the table, within three points of the play-off places
