Stranraer 0 Clyde 5

For their visit to Stair Park, Clyde had retained only four of the side which had started the previous week against Gretna.

But those players drafted in did the visitors proud, putting the Bully Wee two goals ahead in the opening five minutes and adding another two in a four- minute spell around the half hour.

Roddy Hunter created havoc in that opening spell, grabbing both goals. The first came in the third minute when Gary Arbuckle touched over a cross to him, and the second came two minutes later when Chris Higgins nodded on a corner kick for Hunter to squeeze the ball home at the back post.

Clyde relentlessly added to their tally after 29 minutes when the on mark Romauld Bouadjii headed home a Steven Masterton free-kick, and in a repeat of the first two scores Hunter swept in the fourth three minutes later when Arbuckle headed on a corner kick to him.

A minute later it might have been five for the visitors who were awarded a penalty after Stranraer's Murray Henderson had downed Hunter in the box, but keeper Barry-John Corr pulled off a great save, turning Michael McGowan's spot-kick around the post.

But seven minutes from time the goal tally did make five and fittingly it was Hunter who was on the mark. He first-timed a Craig Bryson cross diverted out to him at the edge of the box, his low drive squirming out of Corr's grasp and into the net.

It rounded off a wonderful day for Clyde but a miserable afternoon for Stranraer.
