Stranraer 1-2 Alloa- Match Report

Heavy weather for Alloa

Second-placed Alloa found it tough going at Stranraer before seeing off the strugglers' challenge 2-1.

Both sides found it difficult to fashion clear-cut chances in the first half, although Christopher Aitken's 20-yarder after 26 minutes came close to registering the opener for the hosts.

At the other end, Alloa lacked the necessary penetration, although a shot from Calum Elliot whistled wide shortly before the break.

Defences had largely been in control but Alloa took charge after the break.

The visitors took the lead after 55 minutes when Graeme Holmes struck home from Ben Gordon's pass.

And it was 2-0 13 minutes later when Holmes supplied Ryan McCord with an opportunity from 12 yards.

Stranraer grabbed a goal three minutes from time when Robert Love made the most of Darren Gribben's approach work to set up a grandstand finish
